When you think of royalty, you automatically think of a few things. Power, for one. Wealth, for another. And there are not many things that speak of wealth more than diamond jewellery. Right now, in Britain, it is a time of celebrating the Queen and the royal family, because it is the year of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. In a display of the importance and continuing influence of the British monarchy, a display of jewellery owned by British monarchs is opening at Buckingham Palace – and quite a display it is too, probably even eclipsing the Crown Jewels held at the Tower of London. More than 10,000 diamonds are a part of the collection – symbolising the fantastic amount of wealth retained by the monarchy, and representing the power and influence of British royalty.
